Rabbi Freitag has taken me from a dilettante to a believer. I began studying with him (over 12 years ago) without a true goal in mind. He enabled me to feel more connected to my Judaic roots. He taught me how to study and learn in the tradition of my ancestors. He taught me what kind of Jew I didn’t even know I wanted to be!
With his patient guidance, I have become a more observant Jew. I am not sure if he or I was happier when I asked him to kasher my kitchen. He has taught me to live Jewishly by example. I am a better Jew and a better person because of Rabbi Freitag.
A unique combination of qualities are easily discernible in Rabbi Freitag from even a brief encounter. Not only does he possess an intellect that can grasp the most sophisticated concepts in a broad range of academia, but he can then reconstruct these ideas modularly so that they are easily digestible to a diverse audience. All of this is seasoned with a witty sense of humor and a kindness which permeates an undeniable sincerity. Unbridled jealousy would surely be our emotion toward any organization or community that can count Rabbi Freitag among their number.
Rabbi Daniel Freitag, a.k.a. "Rabbi Dan," is the best. As a kiruv rabbi, he brings the total package: breadth of Torah knowledge, amazing teaching skills, an open and friendly personality, a willingness to invest time in others, and a deep personal commitment to bringing fellow Jews closer to Hashem. By participating in his classes, learning one on one with him, and receiving personal guidance from him, Rabbi Dan single-handedly put me on the path to a life of Yiddishkeit and Torah observance.
I met Rabbi Freitag more than 10 years ago at one of Kollel’s Shabbaton events.
I came from the former USSR and absolutely didn’t have any knowledge or background in practicing Judaism at that time. Rabbi Freitag has a unique way of teaching by engaging in discussion and making me feel comfortable by allowing any questions. He sparked my interest in learning Torah and helped me to become an observant Jew.
With Rabbi Freitag’s guidance and directions I’ve started to observe Shabbos, all the Holidays, and fasts. I am keeping Kosher. I am a member of Congregation Ariel. My son graduated from YA. I am attending services and taking different classes on a weekly/regular basis. I ‘ve learned with Rabbi Freitag how to read Hebrew.
Rabbi Freitag continues to guide me by teaching classes, explaining the Halacha, and always encouraging me to ask questions.
Rabbi Freitag makes learning easy and a treasure! He is always available to teach, to explain, and to support!
Rabbi Freitag always goes above and beyond in helping and advocating! He comes to one’s homes to help to set up a Kosher kitchen, or to place a Mezuzah.
Knowing him and his family is a life changing experience and is truly a blessing!
Shortly after joining Congregation Ariel in Dunwoody Georgia, I had the privilege of meeting Rabbi Danial Freitag. He was widely known as “the unintimidator.” It readily became apparent that he was not only a Talmud Chuchim, but a secular scholar as well. On top of that, a pretty good racquetball player! His depth of knowledge on various topics was very noticeable. Rabbi Freitag has an engaging personality and he is a very caring individual. He readily interacts with people and puts everyone at ease. Never saying or doing anything confrontational to make anyone uneasy. He always has a smile on his face (b'savor panium yafos), loves to laugh and has time for everyone whom he interacts with. Whether leading the davening or giving a sermon, one can see the love he has for Judaism and the community. When my wife had surgery, he came over before Shabbat to make cholent for our family. It wasn’t sufficient that he brought all the ingredients, he brought a new crock pot as well! Whatever situation that Rabbi Freitag is in, he will endeavor to uplift and motivate all people to be the best that they can be while spreading the Light of Torah. I would highly recommend Rabbi Daniel Freitag for any opportunity that he pursues.
I have known Rabbi Freitag for many years. His degree in Psychology and Talmudic studies made working in the Atlanta Scholars Kollel a perfect fit. He worked on Outreach and a Development program making him one of the most popular and well-known rabbis.
He is well-read and relates to all on a personal level. He is a compassionate, humble, accountable, and honest person.
Being an excellent communicator and a people person, he can give meaningful advice and counsel to people as a strong leader, scholar, and fundraiser.
